Supporting the NSPCC
Since 2004 the New Guardian donations have raised over £315,000 for NSPCC and CHILDREN 1ST helping to support their work with vulnerable children and young people.
The NSPCC's vision is of a society where all children are loved, valued and able to fulfil their potential. The aim is to put a stop to child cruelty. FULL STOP.
The NSPCC has 180 community based projects across the UK, including 34 Treatment & Therapeutic services. They provide therapy to children who have been abused, and use child-led techniques such as play and art therapy. These centres are vital for children to enable them to rebuild their childhoods and deal with the psychological long lasting effects abuse can leave.
The money raised so far has enabled the NSPCC to recruit and train 20 volunteers. Each volunteer can counsel upto 200 children in a year. New Guardian has helped the NSPCC to reach 4,000 children who phone ChildLine with their worries and distress.
